Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter NY Premiere Date Set; Troops to see Early Screenings of ALVH

According to the NY Times, the New York premiere of Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter will be held on June 18 at the AMC Loews Lincoln Square. As of now, the time for the premiere hasn’t been announced, but I’ll keep you guys posted. šŸ™‚

The article also goes on to say that 20th Century Fox is set to announce a series of promotional eventsĀ  ā€” intended to introduce one of its less likely movies, ā€œAbraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter,ā€ to some hoped-for fans serving in the United States armed services.

The military push for the film, which opens on June 22 in the United States and on various dates around the world, starts with screenings for land-based troops at undisclosed locations in the Middle East. Then it will move to the Abraham Lincoln, with appearances by the filmā€™s star, Benjamin Walker; its director, Timur Bekmambetov; and Seth Grahame-Smith, who was a writer of the script and the book on which it is based, said Jim Lemley, who is a producer of the movie and will join the others, both on the ship and at the bases.

ā€œWeā€™re going sailing on one of the flagships in the nuclear arsenal,ā€ Mr. Lemley said in a telephone interview on Monday.

Mr. Walker will be in character as Lincoln. Stovepipe hats and glow-in-the-dark fangs will be handed around.

While the article doesn’t mention Mary per se, I can only assume she’ll be joining Ben, Timur and the rest of the team during an event or two so if she does, I’ll post it here of course. *Fingers crossed.*

Red Band Trailer Description for Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter

Although actor Rufus Sewell said during the Kapow! Comic Con this past weekend that a red-band trailer for AL:VH will probably be out in a month or so, ComicBookMovie has released some description for the upcoming footage. Here’s what they had to say:

ā€¢ The first scene revealed that Rufus Sewell’s Adam (the leader of the vampires and main villain in the film) has his sights set on the White House. A young Abraham Lincoln listens on and attempts to take out one of his henchman. However, it appears that he has no idea that these guys are vampires as a bullet to the head has absolutely no effect.

ā€¢ The next scene was far less tense, and featured a scene between Abraham Lincoln and Mary Elizabeth Winstead’s Mary Todd. He confesses to her exactly what it is he spends his nights doing – hunting down and killing vampires. Of course, she doesn’t believe a word he’s saying and he allows her to think he’s joking.

ā€¢ Their romantic picnic ends with the duo outside of Mary’s house. She inventively uses Lincoln’s top hat to stand on in order to be able to kiss him. As she moves in, he turns his head, and the date comes to a rather abrupt end. It’s not that Lincoln isn’t interested – he simply wants to protect her from the dangers he faces.

New Look at Mary in Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter

Back in February when the international trailer for Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter was released, we got a super quick, brief look at Mary portraying President Lincoln’s wife Mary Todd Lincoln in Timur Bekmambetov’s upcoming film. The director took to his Twitter account and gave us a new glimpse (albeit blurry) shot of Mary as Honest Abe’s wife.

Be sure to check out the pic in the gallery.

Hopefully more clearer shots will be released soon, but I think this was so we wouldn’t get too spoiled. šŸ˜‰

Complex Magazine Names Mary one of the Hottest Actresses of Summer 2012; New/old Scans Added

Complex Magazine has compiled their top 10 list of “hottest actresses in summer blockbusters” and Mary was among the list. Here’s what they said:

Movie:Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter
Release date: June 22

If the movieā€™s title isnā€™t enough to plant you in a seat at the theater, then Mary Elizabeth Winsteadā€™s role as Lincolnā€™s wife Mary Todd Lincoln should pique your interest. As Lincoln’s right-hand woman, Winstead functions as the sense of stability and support the would-be President needs on his quest to end slavery by ending the blight of vampires. It is still unconfirmed whether or not Winstead wields a stake alongside Benjamin Walker’s Lincoln, but given the movie’s a stretch of the imagination already, we’re not ruling out the possibility.

Also, I’ve added an old scan of Mary in Flaunt Magazine from December 2011 and a new scan of her with her Smashed cast. If you know where it’s from specifically, let me know. Be sure to see all the latest pics in the gallery.

New Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter Poster and Some Updates on The Cub

Empire Online has published a brand new UK poster for director Timur Bekmambetov’s Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter which hits theaters on June 22 in 3D. So far, this is my favorite poster released. Be sure to see the full-sized poster in the gallery.

Also, apologizes for the lack of updates on Mary and Riley’s new short film project, The Cub, but the film surpassed the initial funding asking price of around 3K and reached $5,000+. A couple of days ago, Riley and Mary filmed The Cub with actress Savannah Lathem. And five days ago, Riley and Mary both tweeted that they had seen dailies for the film and to quote Mary: “Just watched the dailies from THE CUB and it all looks AMAZING!!Ā  Proud producer.”

I’ll be sure to update you guys more on the progress of that film.

And on a bit of a sidenote, Hitfix has named Mary one of the sexiest stars of summer 2012.
