Mary Elizabeth Covers Complex Magazine’s June/July Summer 2012 Issue!

Mary is featured as the cover girl for Complex Magazine’s June/July 2012 issue, which officially hits stands on June 5. Thankfully, they’ve uploaded her full interview on the site. Additionally, you can see all her pics by viewing them in the  gallery. Check out her BTS video below as well as a snippet of her interview. In the full interview, she discusses horror movies, ALVH & releasing a new album! 🙂

What made you sign on to such a bugged-out project?
The title, for one, baffled me. I didn’t know what to think, but I knew it had to be interesting because Timur [Bekmambetov, who directed Wanted] was doing it, and Tim Burton was producing it. When I opened the script and started reading it, I was totally blown away. I wasn’t expecting it to be such a great action-adventure piece, an epic tale that you get totally swept up in. I expected there to be more silliness and camp to it, and it’s just this straightforward journey of a complicated character. It’s like a superhero origin story.

With its summer release date and huge budget, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter is kind of a big deal. Is that nerve-racking?
This one has been a big surprise to me. It seemed to be some obscure thing, but now everyone’s talking about it. We all want to do films that people see, so I’m thankful to be a part of something that has legs. But it’s also cool to be in something that gains a following over time.

Red Band Trailer Description for Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter

Although actor Rufus Sewell said during the Kapow! Comic Con this past weekend that a red-band trailer for AL:VH will probably be out in a month or so, ComicBookMovie has released some description for the upcoming footage. Here’s what they had to say:

• The first scene revealed that Rufus Sewell’s Adam (the leader of the vampires and main villain in the film) has his sights set on the White House. A young Abraham Lincoln listens on and attempts to take out one of his henchman. However, it appears that he has no idea that these guys are vampires as a bullet to the head has absolutely no effect.

• The next scene was far less tense, and featured a scene between Abraham Lincoln and Mary Elizabeth Winstead’s Mary Todd. He confesses to her exactly what it is he spends his nights doing – hunting down and killing vampires. Of course, she doesn’t believe a word he’s saying and he allows her to think he’s joking.

• Their romantic picnic ends with the duo outside of Mary’s house. She inventively uses Lincoln’s top hat to stand on in order to be able to kiss him. As she moves in, he turns his head, and the date comes to a rather abrupt end. It’s not that Lincoln isn’t interested – he simply wants to protect her from the dangers he faces.

New Look at Mary in Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter

Back in February when the international trailer for Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter was released, we got a super quick, brief look at Mary portraying President Lincoln’s wife Mary Todd Lincoln in Timur Bekmambetov’s upcoming film. The director took to his Twitter account and gave us a new glimpse (albeit blurry) shot of Mary as Honest Abe’s wife.

Be sure to check out the pic in the gallery.

Hopefully more clearer shots will be released soon, but I think this was so we wouldn’t get too spoiled. 😉

Mary Looking Fabulous in Vogue

As promised earlier today, I’ve added Mary’s new Vogue scan exclusively provided by kroqjock.

In the interview, Mary discusses how meetings with directors would go well, only for them to tell her “she’s too wholesome”. But thanks to her terrific performance in the Sundance praised film, Smashed, all of that could be changing. Asked about whether her character Mary Todd Lincoln in AL:VH gets to kick vampire butt, Mary dished that she “gets a brief moment of action.”

Be sure to check out the full-sized photo in the gallery! Mary looks so gorgeous as always.

Complex Magazine Names Mary one of the Hottest Actresses of Summer 2012; New/old Scans Added

Complex Magazine has compiled their top 10 list of “hottest actresses in summer blockbusters” and Mary was among the list. Here’s what they said:

Movie:Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter
Release date: June 22

If the movie’s title isn’t enough to plant you in a seat at the theater, then Mary Elizabeth Winstead’s role as Lincoln’s wife Mary Todd Lincoln should pique your interest. As Lincoln’s right-hand woman, Winstead functions as the sense of stability and support the would-be President needs on his quest to end slavery by ending the blight of vampires. It is still unconfirmed whether or not Winstead wields a stake alongside Benjamin Walker’s Lincoln, but given the movie’s a stretch of the imagination already, we’re not ruling out the possibility.

Also, I’ve added an old scan of Mary in Flaunt Magazine from December 2011 and a new scan of her with her Smashed cast. If you know where it’s from specifically, let me know. Be sure to see all the latest pics in the gallery.
