The Spectacular Now trailer has finally hit the Internet and it is. SO. GOOD!! Coming to theaters on August 2, the story follows the romance between charming, popular, happy-go-lucky teenage alcoholic Sutter (Miles Teller) and shy, wise, pretty-but-doesn’t-know-it Aimee (Woodley, naturally), whom he meets after passing out on her lawn. Mary stars in the film, as well as Brie Larson and Kyle Chandler. View the trailer below!

Woah. This is amazing news…and unexpected! The Wrap has just reported that Mary Elizabeth Winstead has been cast on the Cinemax drama pilot, “Quarry,” opposite star Logan Marshall Green.
She will play Joni, Quarry’s (Green) wife, who is one of the few who stands by her husband after her returns from the Vietnam War.
Written by Graham Gordy and Michael D. Fuller, the project follows Quarry, a Vietnam vet who evidently learned his lessons all too well during his time overseas. Now he’s home, earning a living as a cold, remorseless hitman, taking orders from a man called simply The Broker (Stellan Skarsgard).
Directed by John Hillcoat, the project is based on Max Allen Collins’ pulp detective novels and it’s set in the 70s.
Congrats, Mary!! This sounds really exciting!
After being cast in a new film days ago, the first photo from the as-of-now untitled Chris Messina project has been released via actress Katie Nehra. Pictured with Mary and Katie is the director himself. Head to the gallery to check out the photo full-sized and hopefully we’ll be getting some great BTS shots as filming continues. Today marked the first day of filming!
The film follows workaholic attorney Alex [Winstead]. Forced to reinvent her life after her husband suddenly leaves, she is now faced with the humdrum and sometimes catastrophic events that permeate the fabric of their lives. Alex discovers both a vulnerability and inner strength she had not yet tapped all while trying to hold together her broken family.
Back in May, it was announced that the web-series The Beauty Inside which was directed by Like Crazy‘s Drake Doremus and starred Mary won an Emmy last night for Outstanding New Approaches.
The non-televised event was held at downtown L.A.’s Westin Bonaventure hotel, and was hosted by voice-over stars Terese Ganzel and Bob Bergen.
You can view the complete list of Daytime Emmy Creative Arts winners here. The awards show itself will air tomorrow night June 16, at the Beverly Hilton and air on HLN at 8pm ET.
Congrats to Mary and all involved in the series! 🙂

Yesterday in Los Angeles, Mary attended fashion designer Roksanda Illincic’s latest event where she showed off some new clothes from her upcoming 2014 line. Love how simple and well-put Mary’s look is. Head to the gallery to check out the pics!
Mary’s previously wore her designs on the red carpet before (Indie Spirit Brunch, this year’s pre-Oscar party) to name a few.
Exciting news!! According to Showbiz 411, Mary has landed the lead role in a as-of-untitled new film project from The Mindy Project‘s Chris Messina. This will mark Messina’s directorial debut with Winstead in the lead. The plot is as follows:
“Workaholic attorney, Alex [Winstead] is forced to reinvent her life after her husband suddenly leaves. Now faced with the humdrum and sometimes catastrophic events that permeate the fabric of our lives, Alex discovers both a vulnerability and inner strength she had not yet tapped all while trying to hold together her broken family.”
Troy Garity, Derek Luke and Don Johnson (“Django Unchained”) are set to co-star with Mary. The movie is written by Jessica Strong with Katie Nehry and Justin Shilton based on characters the latter two created.
Congrats, Mary! 🙂
Yesterday in Beverly Hills, Mary stepped out onto the red carpet to attend the Max Mara And W Magazine Cocktail Party To Honor The Women In Film and Max Mara Face Of The Future Awards Recipient Hailee Steinfeld. Update: WWD caught up with Mary where she revealed a little about her upcoming projects:
“I’m working on two indie films this summer and my first album,” she said. “We just made our first video with all women producers, directors and actors, which isn’t the norm in the music world.” Produced by Dan the Automator, the album will be released by EMI in August.
On Saturday afternoon, Mary had some fun in the sun while attending Just Jared’s summer kick-off party. At the event, Mary ate some McDonald’s french fries and sipped on an ice cold McCafe to keep cool. Head to the gallery to check out the pics. She definitely looks ready for summer in her outfit! 🙂
