Final ‘BrainDead’ Stills; New Review

The stills for the last three episodes of BrainDead for season 1 have been released and I’ve added them to the gallery.

Episode 10 of BrainDead will air this Sunday, August 28th at 10pm ET on CBS. Below is the synopsis for the season 1 finale, which will be two hours long:

BRAINDEAD concludes with a two-part season finale comprised of back-to-back episodes, Sunday, Sept. 11 (9:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT), on the CBS Television Network.

“Talking Points Toward a Wholistic View of Activism in Government: Can the Top Rebel?” – When Laurel discovers that a senate bill is not what it appears, she implores Luke to help, leading to a dramatic Senate sit-in. Also, Red and Ella battle for control of the bug agenda, and Laurel questions whether or not she should leave Washington, D.C. for good, on BRAINDEAD, Sunday, Sept. 11 (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

“The End of All We Hold Dear: What Happens when Democracies Fail: A Brief Synopsis” – Laurel discovers the secret to driving the bugs out of a person’s brain and tests the tactic on her father. Armed with new knowledge, Laurel and Gareth attempt to expel the Queen bug out of Red’s head once and for all, on BRAINDEAD, Sunday, Sept. 11 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

New Mercy Street Season 2 Photos

Season 2 of Mercy Street is just around the corner and EW has given us a sneak peek at the upcoming new episodes airing early next year.

“This season’s going to be even better,” says executive producer David Zabel. “We’ve figured out what works well on the show, so we’re able to write to our strengths and dive right into it.”

First up? the will-they-or-won’t-they romance between Union army doctor Dr. Jed Foster (Josh Radnor) and abolitionist-leaning Mary Phinney (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) will finally start to heat up.

“There’s definitely a continuing process of them coming together,” teases Zabel.

Even so, some of the factors that kept the pair apart — namely their widely different social and political leanings — will remain somewhat of a barrier between the two.

“Part of the beauty of that relationship is that it integrally plays to a specific moment in history,” notes Zabel. “And it continues to complicate the romantic yearning they have for each other.”

‘Swiss Army Man’ Coming to DVD This Fall

It has been announced (via ComicMix), that SWISS ARMY MAN, starring Daniel Radcliffe, Paul Dano and Mary, will be released on Blu-Ray plus Digital HD and DVD plus Digital DVD October 4th.

The Swiss Army Man home entertainment release includes a music-less audio track along with Q&A with the filmmakers, two behind-the-scenes featurettes, audio commentary with DANIELS and crew and deleted scenes. The Blu-ray Disc of Swiss Army Man will feature a Dolby Atmos^® soundtrack remixed specifically for the home theater environment to place and move audio anywhere in the room, including overhead. Swiss Army Man will be available on Blu-ray (plus Digital HD) for $24.99 and DVD (plus Digital) for $19.98.

First Clip From “The Hollars”

The first clip from John Krasinski’s latest film The Hollars has been released. The film will be out in limited release in the U.S. on August 26. I also screen capped the clip.

The plot is as follows:

Aspiring NYC artist John Hollar (Krasinski) returns to his middle America hometown on the eve of his mother’s brain surgery. Joined by his girlfriend (Anna Kendrick), eight months pregnant with their first child, John is forced to navigate the crazy world he left behind as his dysfunctional family, high school pals, and over-eager ex (Winstead) flood back into his life ahead of his mother’s operation.

‘So It Goes’ to Premiere At the Seattle Shorts Festival

The Seattle Shorts Film Festival will be holding the world premiere for Mary’s new musical short film, So It Goes previously titled Studio Apartment.

So It Goes will premiere Sunday November 13th at 10:00am in the Musical Cinema block. You can also head to the gallery to check out a new still.

Also starring Ryan Kattner (Honus Honus) of the band Man Man, the film’s plot is as follows:

Samantha (Winstead) is a young songwriter trying to record in her apartment. Frustrated by the interruption of her sister and her own sense of self, Samantha decides to take a walk. On her walk she meets a stranger sleeping in a bush who can’t remember the name of a song stuck in his head. Samantha remembers the song, it’s one of her father’s favorites. She and the Stranger slip into a musical, singing “Jackie Wilson Said” by Van Morrison. Reminded of her love of music, Samantha returns home, ready to create.
