Lots of new updates and news to throw your way. First up, filming on Ang Lee’s new sci-fi thriller Gemini Man has officially kicked off in Georgia and Mary was seen on set exiting her trailer. I’ve added HQ photos into the gallery.

In addition to Will Smith and Clive Owen being part of the cast, actor Benedict Wong has joined the film, but there are no details about his role.

And finally, a new podcast interview is up over on “That One Audition“. In it, she reveals how an audition with Oliver Stone went downhill and what the audition process was like for Quentin Tarantino. You can also listen to the interview on iTunes.

Mary to Star in ‘Gemini Man’ with Will Smith

I’m soooo thrilled about this news and so happy for Mary!

Just last week it was reported that Mary was being considered for the front runner to play the female lead opposite Will Smith in Ang Lee’s Gemini Man. She was up against Tatiana Maslany and Elizabeth Debecki and now THR has confirmed that Mary landed the role!

In the film, Smith  plays two opposing roles: one of Henry, an aging assassin who wants to get out of the business, and that of his ultimate opponent, a clone who is 25 years younger and at the peak of his abilities that has been tasked to kill him.Winstead will play an operative who has been ordered to surveil Smith. However, she soon teams up with him.

Filming will begin next month with Clive Own joining the cast as the villain.

Congratulations, Mary!

Mary Elizabeth Winstead A Front Runner for Will Smith’s ‘Gemini Man’

I am definitely loving all the newest projects Mary has coming up. With All About Nina completed and The Parts You Lose nearly wrapped, Mary is now vying for the female lead in Ang Lee’s Gemini Man opposite Will Smith.

According to THR, the action film follows Smith in a dual role. One is that of Henry, an aging assassin who wants to get out of the business but finds himself in a battle with the ultimate opponent: his clone, who is 25 years younger and at the peak of his abilities.

Tatiana Maslany is also being considered for the lead and both actresses have read and are testing for the role of Danny, an operative who works for the same company as Henry and is tasked to surveil him. However, she soon teams up with him. Elizabeth Debicki (Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2) is also in the running for the female lead.

A decision for the part will be made soon as the movie is eying a February start with an international shoot that would include locations ranging from Savannah, Georgia to Budapest, Hungary.

Clive Owen is also going to be in the film, playing the head of the cloning program, one of the villains of the movie.

This sounds like a really great movie and I do hope Mary gets the part! We’ll know within two weeks’ time!

Mary Attends the Critics’ Choice Awards

Mary attended her first Critics Choice Awards on Thursday night with the cast of Fargo. While the show itself was nominated as was her costar David Thewlis, Ewan McGregor was the one who picked up the win for his work as Ray/Emmitt Stussy in the ‘BEST ACTOR IN A MOVIE MADE FOR TV OR LIMITED SERIES’ category. Mary was also nominated in the ‘BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS IN A MOVIE MADE FOR TV OR LIMITED SERIES’, but lost out to Laura Dern.

The important thing is that she was nominated and appeared to have a good time. She rocked a pretty pastels Delpozo dress on the blue carpet and went with fellow actor/friend Ben Lewis.

Head to the gallery to check out all the HQ pics!

Mary Re-teams with Aaron Paul for ‘The Parts You Lose’

This is very great news! Mary, who back in 2012 starred with Breaking Bad actor Aaron Paul in the indie film Smashed, has reunited with her costar to bring us the new dramatic thriller ‘The Parts You Lose‘.

According to Deadline, the film follows the unlikely friendship formed between a young deaf boy, Wesley, and a fugitive criminal who takes refuge in an abandoned barn on the family’s rural North Dakota farm. After forming a deep bond with the man, the boy must decide where to place his allegiances when the authorities begin to close in on the fugitive. Winstead will play Wesley’s mother Gail.

Aaron will play the fugitive criminal while newcomer Danny Murphy will play the young boy. Halt and Catch Fire‘s Christopher Cantwell is directing the film and production has already begun in Winnipeg, Canada.
