Smashed Named Among Sundance Predictions
Mary’s upcoming film Smashed is one of many films being considered for the Sundance film festival. Here’s what they had to say:
An integral part of the indie filmmaking scene, when not contributing to Filmmaker Magazine helmer James Ponsoldt appears to be busy mounting his next project and five yearsafter his breakout debut Off the Black (a Sundance entry in 2006) we now have his sophomore pic – a dramedy featuring Breaking Bad’s Aaron Paul along with Mary Elizabeth Winstead. Look for Smashed to grab a U.S Dramatic or Premieres spot.
Gist: Co-written by James Ponsoldt and Susan Burke, this is the story of a married couple whose bond is built on a mutual love of alcohol gets their relationship put to the test when the wife decides to get sober and begins attending AA.
Producers: Jennifer Cochis (Douchebag), Jonathan Schwartz (Like Crazy) and Andrea Sperling (Sympathy for Delicious)
This is great news for everyone in the film involved. Very cool!
New Funny or Die Video with Mary!
I totally love this. Check out this cute & funny short video Mary did with Max Minghella. L’Echarpe is the classic story of man, woman, and scarf which unfolds in this imported French short showcasing the Steven Allen Spring 2012 line.
Update: I have added close to 40 screencaps from the short film which you can now see in the gallery.
Mary on the Charles Swan set
I have added one new photo of Mary with her “Charles Swan” co-stars Katheryn Winnick and Charlie Sheen. The trio seemed to have filmed a funny scene at an ice cream truck. Check out the new photo in our gallery.
Could Mary Be in 300 Sequel?
This is what MTV thinks anyway. A 300 sequel will soon begin filming and Mary’s The Thing co-star Joel Edgerton has already been cast, so MTV is thinking of actresses who could potentially play the role of Artemisia. Historical paintings depict Artemisia as a buxom brunette, and she is also being described for the film as manipulative and alluring.
Director Noam Murro is apparently not looking for a “star” in the role, and is planning to start testing actresses for the past over the next couple of weeks. Moviehole also asks who would be a good female lead for the role. So, would you guys like to see Mary in the 300 sequel? This is all speculation at the moment. No word on who will be testing for the role as of yet.
Mary Not Nominated for People’s Choice Award
Last month, I had mentioned that we could nominate Mary for a People’s Choice Award under favorite movie actress or any other category. The nominees have been announced, and Mary is not among the list.
Here’s the 2012 nominees for female movie star:
Favorite Movie Actress
- Anne Hathaway
- Emma Stone
- Jennifer Aniston
- Julia Roberts
- Reese Witherspoon
Click here to see the rest of the nominees. We can always try again next year.
Showing Up Website Gets Huge Makeover, New Vid Interview about The Thing
A couple of new stuff to post about. First up, the official site to Mary’s appearance in the long-awaited documentary “Showing Up” finally got one heck of a makeover. Although Mary’s not featured in the trailer, a trailer is posted on the site along with some new stuff so be sure to check that out. The film is about actors talking about the audition process. “Showing Up” is currently being submitted to festivals and when more info is available, I’ll let you all know.
Secondly, a new video interview for The Thing has been posted, which you can view here.
Third, please vote for Mary in Portrait Magazine’s ‘Top 30 under 30’. You can vote as many times as you like over and over again.
And last but not least, Mary’s twitter account has been verified so no more second-guessing who is the real Mary on Twitter anymore!
Be sure to follow us on twitter here!
Jason Schwartzman Talks About Mary’s Fashion in New Interview
In a new interview with GQ, Mary’s Scott Pilgrim Vs The World and now Charles Swan co-star Jason Schwartzman was talking about fashion and in it, says that Mary was the most stylish cast member in the SP crew. Here’s what he said:
On the Scott Pilgrim set, Michael Cera really looked good. But the most stylish cast member was Mary Elizabeth Winstead. She’d come to work and she’d look like there was traffic in the space time continuum and her time machine broke down on the way back from having lunch with Howard Hawks.
Not much I know, but any Mary news is better than none.
“Touched By An Angel” captures from 1997 added
I’ve just uploaded captures from Mary’s very first acting gig back in 1997 where she played athlete Kristy in an episode of the 3rd season of Touched By An Angel – click here to see them! 🙂
