New photo shoot and Interview

The We Are Sweet snapchat channel did an interview with Mary about her upcoming movie Swiss Army Man which is premiering at Sundance. The film also stars Daniel Radcliffe and Paul Dano. In the interview, we also learn that Mary will be staying in Brooklyn for a bit as she films her new show BrainDead. Here is what Mary had to share:

On her character Sarah: She tries to present herself as having this perfect life on social media, but when you chip away at her exterior, she’s a stressed out mother who’s trying to figure out what she really wants. Sarah was a unique role for me to play because every time I talked to the Daniels about who she was, her backstory would change a little bit. For example, one day she became obsessed with the band Creed.”

On working with the directors The Daniels: I was pretty much caught when I heard Daniel Scheinert and Daniel Kwan were writing and directing a new movie. I’m a huge fan of their short films and music videos, and I think they’re just two ridiculously talented, weird dudes. The script for Swiss Army Man was unlike anything I’ve ever read before.

New Behind the Scenes Swiss Army Man Photo

Thanks to the user GigiGoneShopping, I’ve added a new behind the scenes photo of Mary when she was filming Swiss Army Man. Here is what she had to share:

This was taken on my last day of shooting. We’re leaving the set. From L-R: Richard Gross, Aaron Marshall, me, Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Andy Hull (of Manchester Orchestra). Mary Elizabeth Winstead has a peaceful, elegant demeanor. We talked at the very end of the last day. She struck me as being very down to earth.

Here’s some great (but not surprising) news! Mary’s new indie film, Swiss Army Man, will be heading to the Sundance Film Festival in January 2016. The film will be entered in the U.S. Dramatic Competition. Here’s a full synopsis via Deadline:

Swiss Army Man / U.S.A. (Directors and screenwriters: Daniel Scheinert, Daniel Kwan) — Hank, a hopeless man stranded in the wild, discovers a mysterious dead body. Together the two embark on an epic journey to get home. As Hank realizes the body is the key to his survival, this once-suicidal man is forced to convince a dead body that life is worth living. Cast: Paul Dano, Daniel Radcliffe, Mary Elizabeth Winstead. World Premiere

Congrats to Mary and the rest of the cast for getting into Sundance! It’s always been such a great experience for her.

Mary to Star in Swiss Army Man

Looks like Mary will continue having one busy summer! After just wrapping the PBS civil war drama Mercy Street just a couple of weeks ago, Deadline is reporting that Mary along with Daniel Radcliffe and Paul Dano will star in the indie dramedy, Swiss Army Man which is set to begin filming in July.

Directed by Daniel Kwan & Daniel Scheinert, AKA “the Daniels” and launched at the Sundance lab, the film centers on a hopeless man stranded in the wilderness who befriends a dead body and together they go on a surreal journey to get home.

No word yet on who is playing who exactly, but when more details get released, I’ll be sure to update you all.
