Scott Pilgrim VS the World Virtual Reunion+ LDR Season 2 News

Tomorrow July 20th, the Scott Pilgrim VS the World cast will be reuniting virtually via Zoom at 1pm EST to hold a 10th anniversary table read of the film. Entertainment Weekly will be hosting the event in support of Water For People. The nonprofit organization is to support the development of high-quality drinking water and sanitation services. You can donate to Water for People by clicking here.

Mary will be joined by Michael Cera, Ellen Wong, Mark Webber, Alison Pill, Satya Bhabha, Chris Evans, Anna Kendrick, Aubrey Plaza, Mae Whitman, Brandon Routh, and Jason Schwartzman. They were joined by director/writer Edgar Wright, co-writer Michael Bacall and creator of the graphic novels, Bryan Lee O’Malley.

In other news, it is rumored that the majority of the cast from season 1 of Netflix’s Love, Death & Robots will be returning for season 2 including Mary. According to Finance Rewind, it is “expected that season 2 will release in March 2021, if not then somewhere in 2021 the upcoming season will be out. Most of the episodes of season 2 are completed and are submitted.”

No official release date has been announced by Netflix at this time, so all this is just speculation (for now).

LD+R is an American adult, sci-fi anthological animation television series created by Tim Miller.

Mary Nominated for Hollywood Critics Choice; Scott Pilgrim Virtual Reunion

Entertainment Weekly has revealed that the ‘Scott Pilgrim VS the World‘ cast reunited remotely back in May to do a live-read of the film to celebrate the 10th anniversary of its release. In addition, the read-through was to benefit Water for People, a global nonprofit that helps people bring clean water and sanitation solutions to their communities for generations to come. They joined the Mosaic Challenge to benefit the Leadership Council COVID-19 Fund.

Cast members who participated were Michael Cera, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Ellen Wong, Mark Webber, Alison Pill, Satya Bhabha, Chris Evans, Anna Kendrick, Aubrey Plaza, Mae Whitman, Brandon Routh, and Jason Schwartzman. They were joined by director/writer Edgar Wright, co-writer Michael Bacall and creator of the graphic novels, Bryan Lee O’Malley. EW hasn’t announced when they’ll release the script read-through with the cast, but most likely it’ll be released some time in August since the film originally came out on August 13, 2010.

And in case you missed it, it was previously announced by Edgar Wright that the film will be back in theaters.

In other news, it was also announced that Mary and the cast of Birds of Prey were nominated for a Hollywood Critics Choice Awards. In total, the film has six nominations and they are as follows:

Entertainment Weekly Celebrates the 10 Year Anniversary of Scott Pilgrim Vs The World

August 13, 2010 marks the 10 year anniversary of ‘Scott Pilgrim Vs the World‘. Directed by Edgar Wright, the movie is based on graphic novels of the same name by Bryan Lee O’Malley. To help celebrate the upcoming 10 year anniversary of the film, the cast, O’Malley and Wright spoke with Entertainment Weekly and reminisced on the film and whether or not we’ll get a sequel. Below are highlights of Mary from the interview, but you can read the entire Q&A with the cast by clicking the above link.

Mary on training for the film:

WINSTEAD: They got us together in Toronto before we started shooting. It was all of us in this giant warehouse. One of us would be doing martial arts in the corner, and somebody else would be weight-lifting in another corner, and then Michael and Alison and [Mark Webber, who played Sex Bob-omb guitarist Stephen Stills] would be doing band stuff at the same time. It was really fun.

The cast and crew on whether a sequel will happen:

CERA: I don’t think a sequel is a reality. [Laughs] In my limited understanding of the film industry, when a movie doesn’t really explode at the box office, it’s hard for anybody to get behind a sequel.

O’MALLEY: I would like to revisit the characters [in comic form] and see what they’re up to. I sketched Scott early in the pandemic with a huge beard. I think that would be a funny image.

WRIGHT: There’s some plans — and there’s nothing official yet — but there are some plans to revisit the material in an animation way. We’ve been talking with Bryan and with Jared for a while [about]: What if we did something with the books in anime form? It’s being discussed as we speak.

EVANS: The Marvel fan base is rabid, but the Scott Pilgrim fandom is just as dedicated and loyal as any fandom I’ve ever seen.

WINSTEAD: There’s something about Scott Pilgrim that’s not like anything else, and a lot of people are looking for that. They feel they’re not like anybody else or they feel their tastes don’t really line up with what is being made right now. You see that movie and you think, Oh God, this speaks to me; this is what I’ve been looking for!

SCHWARTZMAN: There’s still an email chain that started 10 years ago. The entire cast is on it. To this day, everyone still “replies all” to a lot of emails.

WRIGHT: I’m incredibly proud of the movie. The fact that you’re not doing a 10th-anniversary article about The Expendables says it all.

And in case you missed it, it was previously announced by Edgar Wright that the film will be back in theaters

New/Old ‘Scott Pilgrim’ Photos; SPVTW to Be Re-Released in Theaters

Yesterday evening, The (film) Academy along with director Edgar Wright, the cast of Scott Pilgrim VS the World, and comic creator Bryan Lee O’Malley live-tweeted the movie. During that time, Edgar shared a bunch of behind the scenes photos of Mary and the rest of the cast and I have uploaded all the behind the scenes pics into the gallery. Ellen Wong (Knives Chau) shared two photos that I also uploaded. Edgar also tweeted a video of Mary reminiscing about her time working on the film and footage of her rehearsing the kick she does during the Roxy Richter fight. Remember to click the tweet itself if the video doesn’t load!

In related news, it has been confirmed by Edgar and Dolby Cinemas that in honor of the film’s 10th anniversary in August, the movie will be heading back to theaters. A date has yet to be announced due to the current global pandemic.

If you want to see everyone’s tweets during last night’s live-stream, you can read them HERE.
