New photo shoot and Interview

The We Are Sweet snapchat channel did an interview with Mary about her upcoming movie Swiss Army Man which is premiering at Sundance. The film also stars Daniel Radcliffe and Paul Dano. In the interview, we also learn that Mary will be staying in Brooklyn for a bit as she films her new show BrainDead. Here is what Mary had to share:

On her character Sarah: She tries to present herself as having this perfect life on social media, but when you chip away at her exterior, she’s a stressed out mother who’s trying to figure out what she really wants. Sarah was a unique role for me to play because every time I talked to the Daniels about who she was, her backstory would change a little bit. For example, one day she became obsessed with the band Creed.”

On working with the directors The Daniels: I was pretty much caught when I heard Daniel Scheinert and Daniel Kwan were writing and directing a new movie. I’m a huge fan of their short films and music videos, and I think they’re just two ridiculously talented, weird dudes. The script for Swiss Army Man was unlike anything I’ve ever read before.

You can head to the gallery to check out the new set of photos and if you’re on snapchat, find the WeAreSweet profile to read Mary’s full interview.

New Behind the Scenes Swiss Army Man Photo

Thanks to the user GigiGoneShopping, I’ve added a new behind the scenes photo of Mary when she was filming Swiss Army Man. Here is what she had to share:

This was taken on my last day of shooting. We’re leaving the set. From L-R: Richard Gross, Aaron Marshall, me, Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Andy Hull (of Manchester Orchestra). Mary Elizabeth Winstead has a peaceful, elegant demeanor. We talked at the very end of the last day. She struck me as being very down to earth.

Kickstart A New Musical Short Film Starring Mary!

A Kickstarter campaign has launched to help fund a musical short film featuring Mary that will be written and directed by Mary’s good friend, Justin Carlton. Studio Apartment is a fresh take on the musical, exploring what it means to create alone and together. The short stars actress Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Ryan Kattner (Honus Honus) of the band Man Man.

The plot summary is as follows:

Samantha (Winstead) is a young songwriter trying to record in her apartment. Frustrated by the interruption of her sister and her own sense of self, Samantha decides to take a walk. On her walk she meets a stranger sleeping in a bush who can’t remember the name of a song stuck in his head. Samantha remembers the song, it’s one of her father’s favorites. She and the Stranger slip into a musical, singing “Jackie Wilson Said” by Van Morrison. Reminded of her love of music, Samantha returns home, ready to create.

You can check out a video for the project below:

Any money that you donate to help reach the goal of $15,000 will go towards choreography, rehearsals, equipment, paying and feeding the crew AND not to mention bringing the film straight to a screen near you!

Mary to Appear on ‘Comedy Bang! Bang!’; Alex of Venice Headed to Netflix

As the title reads, I have two bits of information regarding Mary. First up, one of the new film releases for Netflix in August will be that the streaming service will now be playing Mary’s latest film, Alex of Venice. In case you never caught the film when it opened in limited release, Alex of Venice follows the story of a workaholic attorney (Winstead) who is forced to reinvent her life after her husband suddenly leaves.

The film itself was great, so if you have Netflix, look out for it on August 15th when it debuts.

In other news, next Thursday on August 6, Mary will be appearing on IFC’s Comedy Bang! Bang!

No pictures have been released yet, but stay tuned for that. As for the episode description, it says Mary celebrates her birthday…even though (if I remember correctly), she filmed her episode back in March.

Nonetheless, stay tuned for screencaps from that episode! 🙂 Should be fun.
