On Saturday afternoon, Mary had some fun in the sun while attending Just Jared’s summer kick-off party. At the event, Mary ate some McDonald’s french fries and sipped on an ice cold McCafe to keep cool. Head to the gallery to check out the pics. She definitely looks ready for summer in her outfit! 🙂

Got A Girl Releases New Single
Mary’s band Got A Girl released a new single early this morning titled “I’m Down” from Beck’s Song Reader album. Give it a listen! It’s such a great version. Her voice is fantastic! And as a reminder, Mary’s album will be out in August!
Mary’s Album to Be Released in August
Artist Direct caught up with Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Dan the Automator, who together form the band Got A Girl, and in the brief interview, it’s revealed that Mary’s upcoming album will be released in August and Dan talks about the feel of the album:
A chance encounter during the filming of Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, which starred Winstead and featured several songs by Nakamura, led the pair to an unexpected meeting of minds and musical tastes. On a whim, Nakamura invited Winstead to join him in his studio. A few sessions later, the duo realized that something fabulous and unpredictable was happening.
“It started out as just an interesting experiment,” says Winstead. “And then we realized, ‘Hey, what we’re doing is really good.’ We recorded a dozen songs, each one coming from a different place, but with a unifying vibe. All of a sudden, it felt like we were doing an album.”
The common theme to their collaborations was romance, says Nakamura, but not in the way most people think. “When we say ‘romance,’ we’re talking about lifestyle and attitude, in addition to relationships and mood,” he explains.
EMI will release the album this fall.

The Spectacular Now Makes Complex Magazine’s 25 Most Anticipated Indie Movies of 2013
James Ponsoldt’s The Spectacular Now has landed at #2 in Complex Magazine‘s 25 Most Anticipated Indie Movies of Summer 2013. Their mini-review is as follows:
At first glance, The Spectacular Now seems like your typical coming-of-age flick: a booze-guzzling and uninspired high school senior meets a sweet girl who makes him change his ways. But the film adaptation of the popular Tim Tharp young adult novel isn’t as predictable as it seems. Anchored by affecting performances from Miles Teller and Shailene Woodley, winners of Sundance’s U.S. Dramatic Special Jury Award for Acting, The Spectacular Now is a moving and thoughtful glimpse into the inherently complicated life of a kid struggling to resolve his inner demons, and the girl who helps him face them. Much like The Breakfast Club and Say Anything, count on the movie to be a staple in the movie collections of teens everywhere.
Out August 2, TSN will also star Miles Tellar, Shailene Woodley and Brie Larson.
