Netflix Releases Trailer for Love, Death & Robots
Netflix has released a redband (NSFW) trailer for the upcoming adult animated anthology series Love, Death & Robots from Tim Miller and David Fincher. The synopsis for the show is as follows:
“The full roster of shorts will cover a variety of adult topics including racism, government, war, free will, and human nature. The anthology collection spans the science fiction, fantasy, horror and comedy genres and each short has a unique animation style: from traditional 2D to photo-real 3D CGI. The creators were assembled for a global calling for best in class animators from all over the world including artists from France, Korea, Hungary, Canada and the US among others. The series draws inspiration from the eclectic and provocative comic book material from the 1970’s that influenced both Miller’s and Fincher’s formative interests in storytelling.”
Executive produced by David Fincher, Tim Miller, Jennifer Miller and Josh Donen, the series brings together world-class animation creators and captivating stories for the first anthology of short animated stories guaranteed to deliver a unique and visceral viewing experience.
The show will premiere on March 15 on the streaming service and stars Topher Grace, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Gary Cole and a huge cast of many other actors and actresses. According to Deadline, the episodes will be between 5-15 minutes long.
New Casting Updates for Birds of Prey; Spin-offs Rumored
Two new actresses have been added to the long list of the Birds of Prey cast. First up is actress Charlene Amoia. Amoia, who played Wendy the Waitress in CBS’ How I Met Your Mother, will play Maria Bertinelli, the mother of Mary Elizabeth Winstead’s vigilante the Huntress/Helena Bertinelli and the wife of mafia syndicate gangster Franco Bertinelli.
And according to the imdb cast list, Ella Mika will be playing a ‘young Helena Berinelli’ in the film.
Additionally, it is being rumored that if Birds of Prey does well at the box office, we could potentially see a spinoff of Mary’s character the Huntress.
According to sources close to We Got This Covered, Warner Bros. is developing solo movies for Huntress, Black Canary and Cassandra Cain that could be going into production if Birds of Prey proves a big enough hit at the box office. Additionally, it’s said that Rosie Perez’s character Renee Montoya could be getting the same treatment, too, though this possibility is deemed less likely.
This is very exciting news! Can’t wait to see the first trailer for the movie.
Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) will hit theaters on February 7, 2020.

New ‘Birds of Prey’ Casting News
Lots of casting news has been released on the upcoming DC film ‘Bids of Prey’. It was recently revealed that Mary’s former co-star Chris Messina, who she worked with on the 2014 film Alex of Venice, has been cast as villain Victor Zsasz, who will be working with Black Mask in the movie. The character of Zsasz is known to carve his victim tally marks into his own flesh.

Mary Gets Honored at the Newport Beach Film Festival
Last week I had mentioned that Mary would be getting an ‘artist of distinction’ award from the Newport Beach Film Festival for her amazing career, and that event took place on Sunday afternoon as Mary and fellow honorees Colman Domingo, Topher Grace and Zazie Beetz attended the event. In the gallery, I added over 20+ photos of Mary there, and have included a few videos of Mary being interviewed on what movies influenced her, acting career advice, and spoke a little about Birds of Prey. Enjoy the new content!
Mary to Be Honored at the Newport Beach Film Festival
Variety has announced that Mary will be receiving an Artist of Distinction Award at this year’s Newport Beach Film Festival taking place on November 11 along with her former The Beauty Inside co-star Topher Grace and Fear the Walking Dead‘s Colman Domingo.
Over the past 20 years, Winstead has been portraying complex women in projects on TV (“Fargo”) and film, both studio (“Scott Pilgrim vs. the World”) and indie (“Smashed”). This year, she took on one of her most challenging roles as a troubled standup comedian in “All About Nina,” the feature film debut from writer-director Eva Vives. “When I read it, it was absolutely the most intimidating role I’d ever read. It was an easy yes for me obviously, because the role was so incredible,” Winstead says. Only later did the fear sink in. “The closer we got to shooting it, the more scared I started to become.”
Up next, Winstead will be seen in Ang Lee’s “Gemini Man” and “The Parts You Lose.” And she’s just landed the coveted role of Helena Bertinelli / Huntress in “Birds of Prey,” the Harley Quinn spinoff with Margot Robbie. But she’ll never abandon the indie world. “I love it,” she says of the fast pace, noting “All About Nina” was shot in 21 days. “It’s difficult for sure but in terms of the energy, the frenetic, intense energy, it’s easier to get that on a short shoot.”
Congrats to Mary on this fantastic recognition in her career! I’m very happy for her! She deserves this. 🙂
Ewan McGregor Joins ‘Birds of Prey’, R Rating Confirmed
In further casting news for Birds of Prey, it has been announced that Mary’s Fargo co-star Ewan McGregor has joined the DC film as the villain Black Mask. He will join Margot Robbie who is reprising her role of Harley Quinn from Suicide Squad along with Jurnee Smollett-Bell who is playing Black Canary. Rosie Perez is playing Renee Montoya.
Black Mask is a Gotham City mob boss aka Roman Sionis who leads the False Face Society gang. In the comics, he killed his wealthy parents in order to take control of their corporation, but he was a terrible businessman and lost everything. He blames others for his shortcomings with Bruce Wayne being one of his targets.
In a recent interview this past week, director Cathy Yan confirmed that Birds of Prey will be rated R. The film is scheduled to hit theaters on February 7, 2020.
Nice to see that Nikki Swango and Ray Stussy will be reunited again! 😛
