Help Support Riley and Mary’s New Film THE CUB

Mary and Riley are at it again in the hopes of bringing us a new film, but this time they need YOUR help! Head on over to the Kickstarter page and pledge whatever amount of money you want to help bring their next project to life. All the info is listed on the page. Depending on your pledge amount, you’ll get thank you’s on the film credits or signed scripts from both Mary and Riley. If you have lots of extra money laying around, there’s also a chance to attend the premiere or one of the screenings with them. Here’s how some of the film is described:

THE CUB is a comedy about a little used but highly effective parenting technique that guarantees a lifetime of happiness and success for your child most likely at the expense of others.

I can’t really say too much about the actual plot of the film without giving anything away but I can tell you it’s funny, weird, absurd, and scary… sort of a strange hybrid of my two shorts CASQUE and MAGNIFICAT.

Below, is the video posted on the site, where they seemed to have technical difficulties.

Mary will not be on camera, but will instead be executive producing this time around with Riley. The purpose of this Kickstarter campaign is to help offset the cost of producing the film. Filming will begin in Los Angeles, CA in late March or early April and will be submitted to festivals.

New Smashed Interview of Mary and Aaron During Sundance

Even though all the Sundance hype is over, seems one interview was just released over on Movie City News featuring Mary and her co-star, Breaking Bad‘s Aaron Paul. The interview is pretty lengthy. A little over 20 minutes, but lots of questions were asked so it’s worth watching if you have some time to kill and want to know more about the film and the bond Mary and Aaron had during the course of filming.

Mary Elizabeth Winstead Joins A.C.O.D.!

It’s just been announced that Mary Elizabeth has joined Stuart Zicherman’s comedy, A.C.O.D. with a cast that includes Adam Scott, Richard Jenkins and Jane Lynch.

Mary will play the role of Lauren Stinger, a long-time girlfriend of Carter (Scott) and the rock in his increasingly chaotic life.

Mary’s next roles include Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter and Smashed.

A.C.O.D. (Adult Children of Divorce) is about a grown man who discovers that he was enlisted in a study about divorced children many years ago. When he’s ushered into a present-day follow-up study, it wrecks new havoc on his family.

Congrats on your new role, Mary!!

P.S., since it’s not mentioned in the article, I think it’s a safe bet to say she’s not starring in The Darkness.

Mary Talks Vampires in Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter in New E! Interview

In her latest interview with E! news, Mary says that the vampires in Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter won’t be anything like the vampires in Twilight…thankfully.

“The vampires aren’t particularly romantic in this one,” Mary Elizabeth Winstead, who plays Honest Abe’s wife Mary Todd in the flick, told me at the Vanity Fair and Juicy Couture pre-Oscar party. “They’re really just pure evil. I don’t know if we’re romanticizing the vampire as much, but it is exciting.”

She continues by saying that although she researched for the role, she eventually just went along for the ride in preparing for her role:
“I did a lot of research on Mary Todd before I went into it because I wanted to at least have an awareness of who she was and what she was like, but I was also aware that this was an R-movie version of her,” Winstead said. “I had to kind of let it go and go along for the ride.”
Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter will be out June 22nd in 3D.

Mary Talks Working with Charlie Sheen on A Glimpse Inside the Mind of Charles Swan III

During last night’s Vanities 20th Anniversary Party, Mary Elizabeth spoke with E! News and talked about what it was really like to work with Charlie Sheen when they filmed A Glimpse Inside the Mind of Charles Swan III. When asked if Sheen was done with his crazy past, Winstead said:

“He’s completely past that,” Winstead told me at last night’s Vanity Fair and Juicy Couture Vanities party.

“With a lot of really big actors, you see a bit of unprofessionalism or a little bit of a diva attitude or something, but there was none of that,” Winstead said. “He was great. He’s amazing, super professional. Very charming and with a really calm presence.”

Nice to hear that. Charles Swan III is awaiting a release date.
