Mary to Star in New Karate Film

Earlier this month, Mary and her husband Riley stopped by Nitehawk Cinema in NYC for a special screening of their cult-deprogramming film FAULTS. In the Q&A, the two discussed audiences fascination with cults, the kind of research they did to produce the film (lots of news stories on lady sociopaths), and how being married affects their working relationship.

If you watched the video or attended the event, you already know that Mary and Riley will be re-teaming on his next film entitled The Art of Self-Defense. No other details have been given at this time, but I’ll surely post them as new information comes out.

Faults to Screen at NiteHawk Cinema in New York

Just as the title reads, Mary’s 2015 film FAULTS will be screening at the Nitehawk Cinema in New York City on May 10 at 7pm et for one night only. Tickets are currently available for $16 which can be purchased here.

Mary and her husband Riley, who directed the film will be in attendance.

Nitehawk presents a special screening of FAULTS featuring an introduction by director Riley Stearns and a Q&A with Stearns and lead actress Mary Elizabeth Winstead.
Claire (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) is under the grip of a mysterious cult called Faults. Desperate to be reunited with their daughter, Claire’s parents set out to recruit Ansel Roth (Leland Orser), one of the world’s foremost authorities on cults and mind control. But Ansel’s specialty, deprogramming cult members and returning them to their families, is not an exact science, and a series of financial setbacks has left him in debt to his manager. Ansel warns Claire’s parents that his deprogramming methods are risky and expensive, but they agree to hire him to kidnap and deprogram their daughter. Claire quickly reveals herself to be a formidable challenge. Her belief is unshakeable and her logic is undeniable.  A battle of wits develops between the two as they delve deeper and deeper into each other’s minds.

It’s a really good film, so if you’re in the New York area and want to catch the flick, be sure to do so!

Final Batch of 10 Cloverfield Lane Interviews

I’ve added what seems to be the final batch of 10 Cloverfield Lane interviews Mary did promoting the film. You can find the previous interviews here and here.

Speaking with Thrillist, Mary gave tips on how to act scared when filming and doing stuntwork:

“I definitely have more confidence with [stunts] now. Sometimes too much. I think I can do things that I can’t really do. I have photos of my body some days after shooting where I’m literally covered in bruises. Like, I look like a spotted animal or something. Covered in welts. I’d be like, ‘I don’t even know how this happened. I don’t even know what I was doing that made it this bad.’ I think part of it is the character and just her desperation. Take jumping over a table: when you’re jumping over a table and you’re scared for your life, it’s not going to be the smoothest jump in the world, you know? I would end up knocking myself around a bit.”
