San Francisco Film Fest Adds Alex of Venice to Line-up

The 57th annual San Francisco International Film Festival has chosen its opening and closing night films.

The fest will open with a presentation of Hossein Amini’s Patricia Highsmith adaptation “The Two Faces of January,” which stars Oscar Isaac, Viggo Mortensen and Kirsten Dunst.

The two-week festival will close with Chris Messina’s “Alex of Venice.” The drama features Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Don Johnson and Messina.

The film is scheduled for May 8 at 7 p.m. at the Castro Theatre. More information at www.sffs.org.

The San Francisco International Film Festival takes place April 24-May 8. You can buy tickets for the screening of Mary’s film at the link posted above.

The first still of Mary in Chris Messina’s Alex of Venice has been released via the Tribeca Film Festival site.

As previously announced, the film will be making it’s world premiere at the festival this April.

Mary’s New Film to Premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival

The previously untitled Chris Messina project that Mary worked on last summer, now titled Alex of Venice will be premiering at the 13th annual Tribeca Film Festival.

The film is described as follows:

Workaholic environmental attorney Alex (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) has always relied on her husband George (Chris Messina) to take the reins at home. But when he unexpectedly asks for a break, his departure forces Alex to reevaluate her life as she juggles the care of her son and needs of an aspiring-actor father (Don Johnson), all amid the most important case of her life. Actor Chris Messina steps behind the camera for his directorial debut about a woman pushed to the edge who finds the strength to press on.

The Festival will take place from April 16th to April 27th in New York City.

Mary took to her Instagram today to announce that filming on the untitled Chris Messina Project she was working on has wrapped. “Had such a blast shooting this film. Going to miss you guys!”

First Photo From Mary’s New Film!

After being cast in a new film days ago, the first photo from the as-of-now untitled Chris Messina project has been released via actress Katie Nehra. Pictured with Mary and Katie is the director himself. Head to the gallery to check out the photo full-sized and hopefully we’ll be getting some great BTS shots as filming continues. Today marked the first day of filming!

The film follows workaholic attorney Alex [Winstead]. Forced to reinvent her life after her husband suddenly leaves, she is now faced with the humdrum and sometimes catastrophic events that permeate the fabric of their lives. Alex discovers both a vulnerability and inner strength she had not yet tapped all while trying to hold together her broken family.
